Thanks Tim, I've been to Raleigh many times over the past several years but never stopped in to PDN. Tony is such a good guy. He sent me a Sabal birmingham seedling about a year before he listed it in the catalog (2010) and it proved hardy for me. Id just pull a picnic table over it, then later an umbrella type setup to cover the spears. Never used heat but sold the property after it put on a couple of feet of trunk and new owners didn't like plants. They never winter prepped it and it died along with two S.palmettos trunking well.
Anxiously waiting for spring ![]()
