We have the first Dark Skies Park created east of the Mississippi. There are a few in the south now and I believe a good one is in the Florida Keys.
West of the Mississippi River there are many.
A place you've seen, Big Bend National Park is amazing I hear and Bisby, Arizona is another.
No Northern Lights here, but . .

Fred here is another (winter sky) in Cumberland County where Kevin (of this forum) lived when he was a younger lad.
