High snow totals and below zero temps seems to be a thing of the past here in the Cumberland Mountains where I live and I'm positive in other areas of the country as well.
According to the article my county rose on average 5.6* f in winter. My county was z6a/z6b on the old USDA map and today it is z7a/z7b on the new interactive map . My z7a averages around 0* to plus 2* which is a very cold z7a but for the past decade I've averaged around z7b/z8a but freezing fogs and freezing lows for weeks at a time sure isn't helpful. I agree Keith one strong (possible) Vortex could wipe our slate clean.
I will always believe weather travels in cycles and Global Warming is now called climate change. Recorded weather data goes back into the 1800s here, while spotty at times it does show a weather pattern like this that happened in the 1920s and 1930s. The older I get the more I hate cold weather but I don't want Burmese Pythons and Alligators here. We have enough critters to watch out for as it is
Thanks Keith.
