Thanks Jake, I know gardeners have a heart.
Angel Trumpets are hardy here (z7a) barely.
The Needle was planted as a 2g potted specimen I got from Kens Nursery in Columbia around 2005 possibly a year or two later. I looked under the skirt yesterday and she has a 4ft columnar trunk (they usually take on a pyramid shape) and 3 other trunks around 3ft. Last year she had a 50' circumference and is 9 ft tall. She is a prolific seeder but trying to get them up takes years, they are slow. I read somewhere yesterday that East Tennessee has the best winter climate and I wouldn't be surprised hearing your city is a z8. Its currently z7b (awesome) Knoxville with all its concrete jungle is no warmer than you.I have a friend who lives near Kingsport-Johnson City who has been wanting to plant a b&b Sabal Palmetto for years. Those metros are z7b also but Kingsport has an edge in the Tri-Cities. Oh Gosh,
I need a Pals Sudden Service. My sister lives in Kingsport and cant wait to go back and visit.
