Jason, I don't look forward to cold weather, either. So far, though (according to the long range), October 2025 looks alot like October 2024.
If it pans out, that would mean no hard freezes, of 28 degrees or lower, until November. That would be great. More rain (not all at once, lol), would be great. My area, although summer erased the 2025 rain deficit, dry August and September has plunged my area BACK into a drought category.
Christmas cacti are finicky, when it comes to water. Too much or too little is bad. Scale insects, and slugs (in wet weather), can plague them, too. Dry, although not too dry, is best. I lose a few each year, to one of the above reasons, each year. Fortunately, unlike some other plant species, arent too expensive to replace. Keeping as as many alive, from one year to the next, is a great thing.
