Yeah, Fred, Delphiniums can suffer even here, in hot weather, but they are otherwise extremely hardy (down to z3!).
Yep, I'm adding to my tropical fruiting plants, in my collection. It's a learning experience, too, in terms of how they behave in winter, indoors, and what conditions they do better under.
