The stems on the "Material Girl" lily, are beginning to form. However, I spotted a dreaded pest. This pest is the red lily beetle. The larvae of this insect can defoliate "bulbing" lilies (not daylilies) and Fritillaria. The seem to appeared in my area, a few years ago. I have to use a systemic, on my lilies and Fritillaria, to keep them under control...

Check out the new PERSIMMON TREE, I got, from Home Depot mail-order. the cultivar is 'Ichi Ki Kei Jiro'. This is one of the hardiest Japanese Persimmons varieties. The plant is a 5 gallon, and 6 ft tall, already, and even has two or three flower buds on it....
