Fred it sounds awful what you all went through. Glad everyone is safe in your family. We had several bad storms last night (outerbands) they scattered branches and debris all over the neighborhoods but the storm didn't get here until after lunch today. We have had (on again, off again) high wind gusts to 40 mph and a few down pours. I saw only one tree down laying along a downtown street. I cannot believe the death toll from this storm. A dam on the TN and NC state line failed, flooding that town and nearby Newport,TN in Cocke County with 8 feet of water. Those towns had to evacuate several thousand people and I 40 going into NC was washed away and I mean really bad. Motorist traveling to Tennessee might have to take I 26 to I 81 (Tri-Cities) and come into Tennessee that way or go down to Cherokee and go through the Smoky Mountains and some local roads are closed in the area. Cherokee is flooded though.
Nashville had thousands without power early today but got most all back up quickly. A commuter train there hit a tree blown on the track and crashed.
Looks like a good chance of showers into Monday before its out of here. Forecast models are showing a "copycat" tropical system forming SE of Jamaica and its thought when it enters the gulf it might aim for areas of the big bend and that's bad news. We will have to wait and see if this happens again next weekend, Thanks Fred.
