It's still very dry here and peoples lawns are dead unless they watered. I've seen about 3 scenarios of how this storm may play out. Some weathermen are saying Cat 3 to Cat 5 that will quickly slam in the Big bend of Florida and moving northward with hurricane or tropical storms into central GA, One even reports it could split easterly into Western upstate SC at Hurricane status and into Freds area, then into NC and the Virginias.
Another is showing a beeline into Central Tennessee around AJ's tropical Oasis and moving into Nashville then on into Paducah, Kentucky. While another is showing Eastern TN and Eastern Kentucky could have major rains and flooding. I'm seeing 4 to 8 inches of rain that may fall here and that's fine with me. We currently have a stubborn fire in the Great Smoky Mountains about 50 miles SW of Townsend in the most difficult terrain area of the Smokies. It's been burning for a few weeks. I hope the tropical rains will help douse it. That fire was ignited by lightning. I have a good chance of rain Tues and Wed but Thursday evening will bring the tropical rains of Hurricane Helene. I hope those along the coast are sparred the brunt of this hurricane as it will be a bad one but we are so thankful for this rainy week ahead. Thanks for mentioning it David and hope you get some beneficial rains.
