Wine? What type of sugar content do poke berries have. I'm guessing that they must have some, in order for fermentation of the juice to take place.
'Lucy' is the only double in my collection, and also the latest to begin blooming. 'Freedom' is a semi-double, though. Rose of Sharon usually blooms here, until the latter part of September. They may stop a little earlier, this year, due to the early spring, I had this year.
Maypop doesn't emerge out the ground, until relatively late in May, up here. However, once it emerges, it grows very fast. I haven't tried the fruit of Maypop, although they are edible, and the juice is called passionfruit juice. Passionflowers were given their name, because they have an unusually "Y-shaped" stigma, in the center of each bloom, that is thought to resemble a crucifix, or Christ on the Cross.
