Believe it or not, but ASTERS and MUMS are already showing up locally. I prefer to wait until mid-September to buy any of these, and even then, I buy plants in bud, rather than those in full bloom. The ones purchased in bud, and in cooler temps, blooms last longer in the garden. Those plants already in full bloom, during hot weather, will be done sooner, and one may need to make a second fall mum and aster purchase.
Some of you may remember, that last year, I bought a TREE TOMATO, Cyphomandra betacea, plant that flowered and fruited. The fruits finished ripening indoors. Well, this plant is blooming again! Hopefully, the blooms get pollinated, and fruit starts setting again. The tree tomato is native to tropical South America..

Just to show how large PARASOL TREE, Firmiana simplex, leaves are, I held a ruler up to a leaf. I've heard that when the tree gets bigger, the leaves actually get smaller. I guess, because larger trees have more leaves, than smaller trees ...

In the forefront of the pic below, is a BOYSENBERRY plant I set out, last year, out of a 3 inch pot. For anyone who may not know what this is, it is a hybrid made from crossing a blackberry, with a raspberry, and a dewberry.
Now, its canes have grown over 6 ft tall. I am expecting to harvest my first berries from this plant, next year...
