I have not been able to harvest a crop from my bigger sweet cherry tree, in years. Birds ALWAYS get them all before me. A major reason is that they begin "picking" BEFORE the fruit are fully ripe. The slightest amount of red, draws them to the fruit. Another contributing reason for not getting a crop has to do with rain, at harvest time. Mold develops, and ruins whatever cherries are left. I am hoping to keep my new sweet cherry at a more manageable height, spraying, and to make use of caging and netting, to facilitate a harvest.
The spring bulbs will continue for another month, if May isn't "too warm'. However, with more pollinators, in the form of honeybees,+ on the premises, this could also contribute to the flowers not lasting as long, since a flowers real main purpose, is to be pollinated, and produce seeds (not to give humans endless beauty).
