While out in the yard, I noticed a seed-grown Wintersweet, Chimonanthus praecox, plant, protected for several winters, came through this winter, unscathed, UNPROTECTED. It is leaf-budding to the tips. The species is rated z7 hardy. I dipped into the z6b (-3F) range, this past winter.
Also, while out in the garden, I noticed that the Easter lily, is now emerging from the ground, now that the holiday has past, and its forced counterparts are already blooming. They are hardy here, with mulch. Overwintered Easter lilies bloom around the 4th of July, here...
