A BLE is an acronym for "a broad -leaved evergreen", or any evergreen plant that retains its leaves, year-round, but not a conifer (that are generally evergreen, but have narrow, needle-like leaves).
I didn't put "grape", between Oregon and Holly, but should have. The full common name is Oregon Grape Holly. The "grape" describes the ripened fruit the plants produce that are dark blue or black, like some types of grape. Mahonia are neither true grapes, or hollies, though. They do have rather spiny leaves, like many hollies. They are native to western areas, like Oregon.
Feel free to show your BLEs, Keith. Alot of us are interested in growing evergreen plants, in colder zones.
