I wish we could grow Valencia and Navel oranges
. I eat a Navel Orange everyday and most of the peeling too.
An old Amish doctor told me that Orange peelings have coumarin and thats what the drug Comadin is made from. Its safe to eat it in fruits (peelings) and Pineapples. It works in blood circulation and water retention problems from a homeopathic stand point.
This orange usually gets nipped by a frost or freeze in some years but doesn't seem to hurt production. I threw out four 5g gallons of fruit last winter as for the sweet oranges, we are just too borderline, a late freeze would be bad. Thanks
