I agree that New Zealand has alot of fine plants. I would add Tasmania, too. I am also a fan of a number of Aussie, and Chilean plants, as well.
My Yuletide almost died, one winter, when I used a different method of protection. I think I used a leaf cage. The plant died back to the ground, that year, but has recovered nicely.
Yeah, the owner of Camforest wife is Asian, and travels with him, to Asia, on missions to find new native Camellias, and related plants. Eureya is one of these plant species. Believe it or not it got its genus name from the notion that it's flowers have a scent like urine (which is largely composed of the nitrogenous bodily waste product, urea). I don't look forward to smelling these flowers, one day, LOL, but I have smelled the flowers of Amorphophallus konjac, though, which smells like something died. Yet, I still grow this plant. The scent, although it contrasts with that of night jasmine, and honeysuckle (two of my favorite flower scents), I grow a few foul odored flowers, for novelty.
I remember you mentioning Cyrilla growing wild there. I have not found any growing here, though.
