Yep, I'm familiar with Black-seeded Simpson. It's an heirloom variety of leaf lettuce, that has been around for decades.
Good to hear that the girls are doing great. I used to get about 2 dozen eggs, per week, when I had just 7 hens. And yes, that many eggs is too much for a small family. I used to give eggs away, to friends, and neighbors. Four hens could easily produce enough eggs for a couple people. More that that, you'll have enough to give away, or sell.
Hens do love worms, lol. Robins are no match for them. Robins don't scratch for their worms, either.
I prefer fresh figs. I will eat them, right off the tree, while they are ripening. I do the same with raspberries and blackberries. They don't even make it into the house, lol.
