I have learned so much from other people sharing details of their projects. It is only right that I share too. Details must change based on local conditions but it is always good to get as many ideas as possible.
Where we live is actually farm county and not ranch land and is dominated by corn and soybeans. Just some cattle pasture along creeks and rivers. I look after a ranch a couple hours away in South Dakota that my family got just after the turn of the century and have posted pictures of that area in the past to aid in the confusion. Both are in what is locally called "Siouxland" which is the eastern part of former Lakota lands in the border areas of Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, and a corner of Nebraska. But you are probably familiar with all this through your nephew in Sioux Falls.
