I had that once. Awful. After that, I started putting a damp cotton swab over the spot the tooth was pulled if I needed to drink or anything like that, to keep the plug from coming out. I'd just keep my teeth closed, and then drink carefully, or whatever I needed to do. Doesn't help with eating solid foods, but after a tooth pull, I kept it to liquids anyway.
