One had fallen fromt eh nest. A neighbor told me about it when she saw me that afternoon. It had been on teh ground for hours, and the people didn't know what to do. I put it back, soaked some cat food ( I have dry cat food on hand for strays), and carefully fed the little one and its siblings. Later that afternoon, Mama cardinal was back, watching over her babies. I'm going to have to let neighbors know that they can gently put a baby bird back in a nest, the parents won't abandon the nest.
