Where I grew up was nothing but woods and forest. I lived at the top of a small mountain and the road dead-ended at the foot of a large mountain. I would see animal tracks in the snow in the winter but never saw any animal like possums, deer, bobcats, bears, etc. I never saw an owl. Plenty of chipmunks and one time a rattlesnake in our garage but that was pretty much it. Oh, and bats nested in a birch tree and when it got dark in the summer they'd take wing.
