I had a wonderful therapist a gazillion years ago, too. I still remember her name.

Life handed me one of those wonderful teaching moments during that time period. I was job-hunting and could not find anything in my home state, only in a neighboring state (not too far over the state line) and that was a big stresser for me that cropped up in therapy. Well, one day I passed by her car in the parking lot (I can't even remember now how I knew her car) into the building and for some reason her license plate caught my interest. Yep, she commuted in FROM the state that I commuted TO for work and the whole while I'm whining she never said a word. Bless her. Well, that snapped me out of the "me me me" mentality that I was stuck in and I was able to empathize with her situation. I expressed my horror at my whining when the whole time she'd been commuting every day and didn't let it run her life. She just smiled this smile that said "Yay, I'm doing my job, we're making headway!.
