Well, to cut to the chase all of the police activity all day Saturday was because she died of an overdose. Animal Control took her 2 cats away. Liz was friends with Anna who lives with her mother, Linda, directly across from Liz. I saw Anna opening her car door Saturday midday so I went out and asked what happened. Apparently, Anna's boyfriend, who thought Anna was visiting with Liz early Saturday morning, found her. Liz's door was ajar so he went in. He found Liz face-down on the bedroom floor with the nightstand toppled on top of her. Anna and her mother did CPR but Liz had been gone for a while. Then to top it all off there was a guy walking back and forth on the sidewalk in front of my patio and the next thing I know he has an officer on either side of him leading him away with his hands handcuffed behind him. In the middle of all this a condo board member whom I've texted in the past from my cell phone called me to find out what was happening and I'm trying to see what's happening out in the parking lot and talk to her at the same time, trying to get her off of the phone so I can go out to talk to Anna; it was nuts. Once I found out I called her back to let her know. I ran into Linda Sunday morning and asked her if Liz had been murdered and she said no, it was an overdose. Apparently Liz had recently started using heroin, too. I lost track of all the official vehicles: forensics, policeman, SUVs with lettering on the doors that I couldn't read. And that was from my main room looking out the sliding glass doors. Previously that morning around the corner were a fire truck, an ambulance, policemen and Animal Control, according to the board member. The police were there until about 6:00 that night.
I do not know what the connection between the handcuffed man and Liz's OD are. I've always been half-expecting for something like this to happen to her. It's horrid. She was very close to her parents and has older children and a sister in N. Carolina.
