Schools closed, businesses closed. Many closed because literally everyone died.
The fights people had then, are the same ones we have now.
Humans don't learn lessons from history very well, unfortunately.
I'm in Florida. We WILL see another spike in cases and deaths after spring break. Hordes are flocking in to party, to visit, to see the sights and beaches, and most of those folks aren't gonna mask up or socially distance.
I'm a Floridian. I could choose to get very angry at the people who flock to Florida from other states and bring the deadly spikes with them... The spring breakers, the Bikers at Daytona, the tourists, people coming here because there are no mask mandates, because our leaders feel that money is more important than human lives.
But what good would anger do?
Instead I do what I can to protect myself during the invasions that happen on holidays and in the summer. I try not to take it personally, even though, I know, these people don't actually care if I get sick and die, as long as they have their fun.
It's not political. It's human nature. Some will do for others, some will take from others. Most will not realize the consequences of their actions in any given situation. It's always been this way. It will always be this way. We are a selfish species.
No, let's NOT get political, because how we handle this virus isn't political. It's down to us individuals to handle it. We can be the problem or the solution. Nothing more.
That said, I do like a good joke during a bad time!
