Second, the pictures may not accurately depict what you get, if it’s merely shoddy merchandise and not a full blown scam. The pictures could be stolen from legitimate sellers or photoshopped.
And, the art on them could be stolen. I’m an artist and network with hundreds of other artists and have seen the copyright infringement problem escalate so badly in the past 5-8 yrs! Since all the sites went to the large view ‘thumbnail,’ infringers have developed a whole industry where they use software to ‘scrape’ google, Pinterest, and sites like zazzle etc. They then slap those images up for sale all over the place on every imaginable product.
I was able to shut down my online shop to curtail infringement because I’m semi retired and didn’t have to keep it open. But artists who depend on online sales can find their business decimated by infringement! I know artists now who are finding dozens even hundreds of infringements of their work, weekly. The task of dealing with it is time consuming to say the least.
These super cheap quilt shops are a notorious fad right now. There is no way the site paid for all those licenses for all that art from different artists and produces products at that price.
Lastly, if this is a true scam site, it could infect viewers computers with malware. In the process of sifting thru infringements of my work I had a scraper site wreck our old iPad with malware. Yes they can be wiped and fixed but just sayin’...!
Often, the infringers/scammers are overseas. Artists as well as buyers who get cheated have little recourse.
Now, I could be wrong about this particular site, but now you know why those prices may be so tempting. I see artists post about these quilt sites infringing on them on any given day so I’m inclined to be suspicious.
