A year has passed since you went away
I have missed you each and every day
I miss the sound of your voice on the phone
I hate sorting through each and every thing you own
They each tell a story and why you kept it for years
I can’t keep them all and it brings me to tears
How to determine what meant the most to your heart
I have kept all your owls of which you just couldn’t part
When I searched your hope chest, I found your heart there
Letters, cards, baby pictures, gowns, and a lock of hair
You seemed to be summed up there in that wooden chest
The laughter, the tears, the joys , and, finally my mother at rest.
Thank you for the years of caring and worry and most of all, the love.
Your daughter
