I believe that dual-trunked palm in the pictures 4th and 5th from the top may be a Serenoa repens

Ah! great! thanks..So THAT is S.repens? I've heard it plenty of times talked about. First time I've seen one in person and its a GREAT looking palm..the pattern on the trunk and the almost triangular canopy of fronds. Great palm.

Wine palms and Mountain palms- Parajubaea are mixed in.

Love them braheas and bismarckias! Didn’t see a chamaerops cerifera, they are a fave too.

Can’t believe the Jane magnolia are already popping there in SF. We’ve probably got a month or more here before they bloom.

I would typically expect more suckering up the trunk and down at the base, but the climate there (versus) here could explain that difference. The somewhat costapalmate fronds are a hint to me that it is Serenoa. They do trunk very quickly for what is typically thought of as a scrub-type palm.

I love that silver color on palms .
Is that a Sabal Birmingham in the 3rd picture from the bottom ( maybe a small mexicana ? ) .

I dont know Will. But many Sabals have been planted here...more than anyplace else in the bay area. I know the planter and he once sent me a list and he grew those various Sabals from seed. To see them trunking already..and those Queens palms are not rare- but last I saw them they had no or little trunk..fast growers.
The Livistona wins "palm with the most fronds at a time"..wow. Full canopy,nice pattern on the trunk.

This has stumped everyone. The story John,is that a long time palm grower who traveled and collected seed grew this plant and donated it and quite a few other palms at the park. I think he passed away. So,its a guess. Serenoa trunks look a bit thin to me in photos. I thought a Sabal..but it was pointed out,it has no crosshatch trunk.
A list of what's planted is on growingontheedge.net. Maybe if you look over the list "Civic Center Park" in particular,you would have a better idea.
