Looks like the board has spoken .
The main reason I would like to keep the shirt on is that if I have another mild winter this coming winter , I'd have a double skirt next year . That double skirt would be a respectable looking skirt . The skirt now is thin and doesn't quite have that skirt look , but next year it would be " for real " .
I'll try and have a before and after picture tomorrow .

I voted leave them on even after giving a pro-pruning dissertation on your Sabal Louisiana. The reason for my duplicity? A Washy is different. The skirt is part of a Washy's iconic look.

I voted to cut them off , but I like both looks . If I have another mild winter that skirt would be really thick next summer . It won't be like some of the skirts in Cali but pretty thick next year .

I'd remove any fronds bending down more than 90°.

I like Jim, cut them off when they get a majority brown, but that palm looks good with the beginning skirt. I voted to leave them on.

Jane , there are some amazing skirts out in the dry Southwest . I guess they don't rot off very fast in that desert climate .

Will I just voted to leave them on. I cant help but think it could have some redeeming protection in keeping them. Good luck with whatever you decide. As a Washingtonia lover, its the pride of all the forums.
