Had to move a Yucca rostrata :

It was leaning to get more light and finally just pretty much was growing sideways . It will be happier here in full sun and no crowding . It now has two growing points instead of the one it had before it flowered last year . It'll need a little more time to grow out of its sideways growing habit .

That wasn't too easy...looks hefty and really how much root ball can any man lift?. Looks fine after all that. Tough plant with a great look.

Mine's growing sideways too, but as I have no other place to relocate it to, it's on its own to correct its curvy ways or keep at it and break one day.

A large one like that is on my wish list. I've never seen one or a photo of a branched one.

I use a hand truck for moving things like that. I never lift them. I roll the root balls to where I need them. For me, to do that requires digging out a large donut of soil from around it. So no lifting requires more digging.

Yeah Jay ,I try not to disturb the roots much . I put it on a tarp and dragged it to it pre dug hole . The ants were crawling all over me when I would grab the trunk . Luckily they didn't sting .

Yes Jim , mine started leaning when it had that heavy flower stalk on it last year . It just kept going sideways more and more until it was practically leaning on the lawn .
It's happy now .

They are easy to move , and they don't need a huge rootball to get reestablished . If it were a different plant I would've tried to get a much larger rootball . That's one good thing about desert plants .
