A little late snow in central NH :
.I planted these at a Mex restaurant and I think they are coming along pretty well . This is a windy location so the Bananas look pretty wind whipped . They end up looking better into June .
This clump is now at least 3 years old so I expect there to be a lot of banana fruits on it this year . Last year I found one clump of banana fruit but with the maturity of these trunks I expect a lot more fruit on them this summer :
.
Here's the Trachy some amateurs keep hacking on . It keeps on growing out of the abuse at least . i'll love it when it's too high to hack on it without a ladder . Maybe then they'll leave it alone ?
I've found that Trachys don't trunk up until they have a certain amount of frond mass . So every time they hack on it , it stalls its trunk growth as it regrows its frond mass . That is probably true for most palms and many plants too . This palm would probably be 2 feet taller than it is now and a lot fuller due to the stunting of it by amateurs .
.
Summer will be here on Friday . I wish we had a better spring of 70'sF for highs and 50'sF for lows . Instead it's been too cool and now Friday will turn into summer with 80'sF for highs and 60's for lows . Oh well ?
Thanks for looking .
