14F Lowest Low (Edit : Had another low of 32F for a total of 53 now )

Not a bad winter here , if you don't consider how wet it was .
There were 53 lows at 32F or lower , 15 of those lows were 25F or lower , and 5 lows were 20F or lower , including a 14F , 16F ,18F , 19F , and a 20F .
I had one daily high below 32F which was 31F after the night that hit 14F .
I only protected my Washy , and I only felt that I had to protect it on 1 or 2 nights
I had one snow that occurred on December 9th which was a whopping 12" of fluffy stuff . The most snow I've ever seen on the ground here , and the most snow since 1930 . At least it melted fast .

This winter was an absolute gem for lack of extreme cold and frozen precipitation here near Charlotte. My only gripe is this rain that just won’t stop.

I think of winters mainly with concern about severe cold and with that in mind it wasn't too bad of a winter .
Maybe we're over the hump as far as rain goes . It looks like next week will be more average for the rain gauge .

Never ending gloom. This years rains took twice as many days,although low temperature wise it was better than average. We had a 10b winter..but I tell you we had so many nights in the 30's,its probably one of the coldest 10b winters ever in the country.

Maybe the rain will end soon for both of us Stan . At least California has broken the drought I think .

December and early January were mild with very little snowfall. Second half of January and most of February were very cold. Lowest low was -8F so that was a bit of a zone buster in my normally 6b area. We are still behind on average snowfall for the season, but I am not complaining!

16F was the airport's low.
We had a dusting of snow.
No protection on anything but I don't have a Washy.

Rainiest winter on record but I have not added the 3 months together yet.

We are going to get it, but it will be all rain this time with temps in 40's and 50's. Hoping I'll be able to remove protection from my two Trachy's by next weekend. Long range forecast looks favorable.

Not terrible overall...26" of snow so far with little if any more expected; that's about 14" below normal. Back to back nights of -4F ruined it though.

Zone 6a, 20 miles SE of Pittsburgh
Previous gardens in Dubois, Pa, Walnut Creek, CA, and Lancaster, NY
Other interests: Edibles, fragrance, hummingbirds and butterflies, and deer resistance

Not bad at all Tommy .
My washy would probably be fine at 16F and even 14F but I'd rather be safe than sorry like with my Palmettos .

I found a place in southeastern NC that says they have Palmettos from a more northerly range like Bald Head Island , NC .
I want to get one of those in a few weeks .
