I appreciate the ease now of being able to access information. I remember the days before the Internet, and how difficult it could be at times to find specific information. I still buy physical books, and I have several palm titles that I reference.
It is funny you mention Kmart selling palms. The one in my town would carry some as well, and I remember being excited to go by there after work to search and see if they had gotten any in a shipment. I remember buying a few sabals and windmills there.
I think my love of plan trees started when I was a child. I loved dinosaurs and would always palm trees in my dinosaur drawings. As I was growing up, I also watched the original Magnum, P.I., Hawaii Five-O, and Miami Vice, and of course palm trees were always in episodes. Our state flag also has a palm tree, Sabal palmetto, in the design, and it is our state tree. I suppose palm trees have been a staple in my life since I was a child. As an adult, I have been able to plant them in my yard as well as other places around town. I even planted a palmetto and Sabals minors at my current workplace.
