I don't think wet would bother it , so what about a cage with leaves filled so thickly that it never freezes . So maybe a couple of feet of leaves around it , with maybe more closer to the ground , then cover with plastic over the top to keep it dry .
I'd wait till low 20'sF to cover it . If it is Ensete it will still be growing into December .
I think the leaves protection would be a good one , but I could be wrong . I may actually use that method for mine now that I think about it .
