I pretty much did a lot of what you mentioned except for the lime and overhead protection . It did fine through 2 winters before that winter with that 8 day period .
It was getting established too . I feel like it could outperform my Filibusta most winters when established , and some winters even keep those fronds nice and green compared to the Filibusta where I can always count on the fronds looking rough after winter .
