Edited by WSimpson NC on 3/28/2020, 1:58 pm Here last November I had that cold stretch a week after 60'sF , 70's , and 80's . My Edgeworthia had hardly any cold to harden it off . A week later I had 20'sF for lows and exactly 2 weeks after an 80F it hit 20F . I'm pretty sure that zapped those Edgeworthia buds .
Speaking of drought and my Citrumelo , I now feel like last year's " big Citrumelo fall off " was due to a dry spring .
You mentioned how citrus can get finicky and fruit falls off for no apparent reason , well I think now in hindsight that the dry spring last year caused most of those fruits to drop off . As you remember I thought it was the winds of a thunderstorm that made them fall off , but after your comments I feel more and more that it was the dry spring . This year I'm going to test the drought theory , and I'm going to water the tree well if it gets dry .
It has a thousand flowers on it now , and I would love for it to be really loaded this year . You know how festive they look around Christmas .
We'll see if watering a little more during certain periods will keep that fruit from falling off .
Thanks for your comments last year that made me think deeper than just what seemed like the obvious .
