Yes. Think of the technology at the time this board was started. Most of us connected to the internet via a modem. I had a 28.8 I believe. And an awful lot of us were using AOL. Cellphones (Smart phones weren't around yet) were just beginning to explode. I think there were 5 million cellphone users in 1995, 95 million by 2000. That technology just became ubiquitous overnight.
If you were driving somewhere, before your trip, you got directions from MapQuest, printed them out, and took them with you in your vehicle. This was still pre-GPS. (Of course, I remember the days of foldout paper maps as the only aid a driver had!)
Even the board itself -- this platform -- reeks of late 90s web. And I love it for that! It's easy. It's comfortable. It's familiar. It doesn't need bells & whistles.
