Hi. Is this a Red Banana (Ensete ventricosum 'Maurelii')? I read somewhere that there are 2 strains. It may have only stated 'Ornamental banana' on the label when I got it in the Spring.
I plan to dig it up before the first frost, cut it back to the newest 1-3 leaves, and place indoors in a pot with well-draining soil. I've done this 2x before with Musa Basjoos and they both began rotting and got mite infestations. For those I waited until frosts killed off some of their leaves though. It's been an ongoing challenge for me not to over-water.
Is there a recommended soil composition that doesn't include exotic ingredients that are expensive and tough to find even on-line? I use a mix of indoor potting soil, peat moss, pine bark mulch, and vermiculite.
