This is Dioscorea mexicana. Similar but smaller than the famous Dioscorea elephantipes. In practicality the two are identical. I'm sure later I will be able to tell them apart!
The top was broken in shopping..but I read that the stem can root and make small "tortoises". So,it's floating in water until I bag it up tomorrow.
