Alex is right, what an overrated house palm. Survival rate is almost zilch
Alex and Clint both suggested trying another species and for good reason and then Jim had some good ideas to keep it alive, a little work but doable.
I kept one alive for over 10 years and it got so big I couldnt get it back in the house. I was able to keep it alive simply by overwintering it in the bathroom. This bathroom has a window and with a shower taken daily in there, it provided the perfect humidity it wanted. It would actually open a couple of fronds in winter.
I understand your love for one because they are beautiful. Afraid it might get root bound?
Your in luck, Majesty Palm is the only palm (I know of) that can survive roots being cut away.
You can keep your palm in the same pot for many years by doing this. I never went beyond 7g.
Consider your palm trunk growing in the center of the pie diagram below
If the palm has grown root bound simply take a butcher knife and cut out a pie section in every other section. Here you would have removed 3 sections then refill with excellent potting soil and the roots will grow back right into the pot.
If you have a bathroom with a view you can easily overwinter them. You can always take it out to another part of the house during a visit or dinner hosting others. This was shared to me many years ago by a fellow who grew them successfully indoors and it works but remember to get them back outside when spring arrives!
Good Luck Tommy
