Our most popular local TV news (which partners with AccuWeather) is calling for average winter temperatures, slightly more snow than normal, and the potential for more nor'easters.
NWS December-January-February outlook maps agree with AccuWeather for my region. Average temps / more precip.
As I say every fall in this message board, I think winter predictions for eastern North America aren't worth much. There are too many factors to consider and so much variability in winter weather from say, Cape Hatteras to Eastport. No one can say today if our winter minima will be a wonderfully benign 19F (like it was in 2002) or -14F like it was in the mid 1980s.
I hate winter. Cold. Short days. Snow & ice. And it always lasts 2 months beyond the day the novelty of it wears off.
