Tim in Mass confirmed it for me on the yucca group on FB, it is elata. All the crapes do well enough that they come back from the ground, but unfortunately, we don't seem to have consistently warm enough winters to get the very large anymore. After a 20 year stretch without going below zero, we have had brutal winters since the first polar vortex, and have been below zero just about every year since 2012.
The yellow plant you asked about is Aucuba japonica, unless you referring to the Hakone grass.
