Lee Russell , said that he believed the series started at the beginning of October 1967, but at the end of the day what does a few weeks difference mean in TOD land .

Thanks for the list of dates for the timeline, which is SO messed up in this series. The most messed up for me is Katie Anderson - in season 1 Roadrunner she's just had her third birthday. In season 2 Saigon she's just had her third birthday. In season 3 suddenly she's 6!!!! That one thing alone makes my brain explode.
There are other things too (like how many months is a twelve month tour), but you know what? It's still a bloody good series.
I'd heard the pilot ep was end of September 67 to kind of coincide with events at Con Then with the marines. So it's all saying about the same time.
