Ena and Alfonso never lived together in Rome. They separated shortly after the beginning of their exile when they were in Fonteinebleau . She spent some time in Rome just before his death and stayed for a short time. The Italian Govt. accused her of being a British spy and she left for Switzeland. The Barcelonas and the Segovias soon followed her.
After separating from Alfonso she lived in London, where she bought a house. But she left London to Lausanne because of the taxes. The Govt. told her that, she was no longer a member of the BRF afete her marriage, she had to pay taxes.
