The Franco-Iberian Royals Message Board: Royals as scapegoats

That's no surprise: royals have often been the scapegoats for their countries' problems -- notwithstanding the fact that they have been entirely blameless. Look at Queen Marie Antoinette of France, for one.

But at the end of the day, the questions need to be asked: 1) IS the monarchy the CAUSE of the country's problems? 2) Would abolition of the institution solve the said problems? 3) Is there a viable alternative to the form of government, and would the country be better off thus?

Hello, to everyone.
I’m very concerned about the situation in Valencia, and Spain in general. I’ve been watching videos where the people of Valencia were throwing mud at the king and queen, as well as screaming at them. A woman is seen screaming at the Queen “a ti no te falta nada. A ti no te falta agua”.
Sánchez fled the scene with his convoy. The king and queen stayed and faced the people, while still covered in mud.
Can any of the Spanish posters share their thoughts with us.

At this moment the monarchy seems very diminished, but I feel it can come out more strengthened than ever.
