And yes, the title does not longer exist since yesterday
Is it considered a proper title ?
After all it is not a dukedom, an earldom, a county or a barony...
Will it be affected by the francoist bleaching ?
As “resident expert”, I have to say that the key point is not that the law has been passed by the Senate, but that it has been sanctioned by the King and published in the BOE yesterday.
The most relevant title for this board is the Dukedom of Franco, because it was going to be inherited by a non-dynast member of the Borbon family. Carmen Martinez-Bordiu is no longer a Duchess and Luis Alfonso will not inherit it.
But the game is not over. I have not heard so far about legal actions. And the PP has promised to abolish it when it comes to power. Let’s see if it is abolished and if all supressed titles are restored or not.
I was hoping our resident expert Manuel would be posting, but it appears the law he cited below, in part targeting titles with Franco associations, has been passed by the Spanish senate. Though most creations date back to the Franco decades, some of the titles were awarded in the early part of the reign of King Juan Carlos.
