A temporary transfer.
On his will, D.Pedro made sure that his heart should, for ever, remain in Oporto, as a recognition of the support granted by its citizens during the civil war between him and his brother King D.Miguel, namely during the siege of Oporto.
There is some discussion in Oporto as this "travel" to Brazil direspects the King/Emperor wish that his heart should never leave the town, under any circumstances. Previous Message

Yet another fascinating transfer of royal remains. I guess there is an unwritten statute of limitations on how long a dying man’s wish must be honored. Pedro and Porto endured a lot together.
