In 1831, he changed his arms to show the constitutional charter of 1830.
At the time, no pretence was made to the undifferenced arms of France, although the head of the Orléans branch of the House of Bourbon certainly pretends to them now in opposition to Prince Louis (XX) Alphonse, Duke of Anjou, eldest of the Capetians. I am not sure when they definitively started making use of the plain arms, perhaps after the death of Henry (V), Count of Chambord.
