I was often curious about one of the breast stars worn by King Juan Carlos on the day of his wedding. Just below his Order of the Redeemer is an oval shaped star with a cross prominently on it. I often thought this was attached to perhaps a decoration of the Greek Orthodox Church, but it seems that it could be a Spanish decoration. According to this portrait on Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/p/CJnoeD5HQ_K/?igshid=1nqn4vfda1dyo , it’s identified as the “breast star of the Principality of Asturias.” It looks identical to what JC is wearing at his wedding.
Can anyone give more info on this specific decoration? Thanks!
