Some media and parties have been campaigning to get him leave the country. Now he had done it, they are saying that he has fled the country to evade justice.
As I posted some years ago on this board, Spain has a periodical tendence to self-destruction, not seen in any other country.
Well, now he is out of scene, who’s going to be the next prey?
Yes it seems to be the case that King Juan Carlos used his position for financial gaines, that is not what he should have done and it will carry consequences. However his bad behaviour (and there are several examples known of that) does not mean he never did anything right. If Juan Carlos had not decided he wanted to be king of a democratic country Spain would not be where it is today. It might have had to go through a second civil war or various dictatorship or military junta's. So Juan Carlos in spite of all his mistakes is entitled to a little more respect than you showed in your post, simply due to his positive actions as King. This man served his country and the institution of the Monarchy from the age of 10 and has seen his country develop in ways few held for possible when he took over from Franco. Yes he clearly messed up some parts of his life but please take a look at the full repertoire of the man and what he has done in his life before you are that dismissive about him. I know few people who made such a great real difference in the lives of that many people.
Juan Carlos appears to have grossly mis-used his position for personal gain- that is the only reason for his present woes.
