Did King Ludwig I of Bavaria ever actually see him ( a mutual great-grandson of him and King Louis-Philippe of the French)? The reason for my asking is that he was born within the lifetime of his great-grandfather (1865), and was (I believe his first great-grandchild).

I know that the Bavarian king was forced to abdicate the throne in disgrace (1848), over his scandalous affair with Lola Montez, and that he lived a great deal in exile afterward. Perhaps he visited some of his daughters who had married into foreign royal houses, and saw their children?

Sadly, Princess Hildegard didn't live to see her firt grandchild, since she died in 1864 (not long after the death of her oldest brother, King Maximilian II of Bavaria, whose funeral she had traveled to attend).
